Two candles on the cake

A few weeks ago, I came by this old box of photo corners which – judging by the context I found it in – presumably dates to the early 1960s:

I practically saved this box from the trash can because, as you will know by now, I do have a penchant for all old things. But of course even I couldn’t possibly blame anyone for throwing away an old box of photo corners: From today’s point of view the very idea of photo corners itself seems completely obsolete, belonging to a more-or-less bygone era when people would still put actual print copies of photos into actual photo albums rather than posting digital images on facebook, pinterest, tumblr or, indeed, their blog.

Speaking of which, there also was another, more precise reason why I kept that box: The illustration on the lid shows a picture of one of Austria’s best known sights, Aggstein Castle overlooking the river Danube, and I figured this would make a fitting subject for a post celebrating our second blogiversary – which, as it happens, is today. Yes, exactly two years ago we published our first post on this site and the very first thing in that post was, well, a picture of Aggstein Castle

Now, I realise I just mentioned something about “celebrating” our blogiversary, but I’m afraid we don’t have anything particularly celebratory lined up this year and the only reason for doing an anniversary post at all is simply to say a big thank you to all our readers: So, thank you all for stopping by and hanging out with us, virtually – we really appreciate it and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

    1. Thanks, Jonathan, the same to you! (I really meant to comment on your recent blog birthday post but somehow never got round to it…)
