In the Bleak Midwinter

January 26, 2014

Nothing is better than coming home to a warm, welcoming fire after a cold, stormy and rainy day out …

… and nothing helps beating the January Blues better than a little touch of colour:

Pattern: Hermione’s Everyday Socks by Erica Lueder
Yarn: Hazel Knits Artisan Sock [colour: Poppy]
Needles: 2.25mm

Three weeks into the New Year I can report that I am doing quite alright with balancing my time between work on the PhD [Third year!!! Things are starting to get really serious now…] and other things I enjoy in life. There has been socialising, there has been knitting, and there has even been some time for a little non-PhD-related reading. There is, of course, still plenty of room for further improvement [especially as regards not thinking about the PhD/not feeling guilty for not working on the PhD when doing fun stuff], but hey, also small steps are good steps [especially when taken in such happily coloured socks!] …

Congrats on making it to year 3! I’m preparing for the MCATs in April.

I love the socks you made. I agree, everything is better with a little color!
